5 Podcasts Worth Your Commute Time
10:09You Must Remember This
I've got to hand this recommendation to my little sister Alice, who is truly a walking encyclopedia of film knowledge. She was the person who introduced me to the podcast last summer. You Must Remember This chronicles in the podcast's own words "The secrets or/and forgotten histories of Hollywood's first century."' You Must Remember This is written, narrated and edited by Karina Longworth. So far the podcast has covered some really interesting periods of film history including: Star Wars: Hollywood During World War II, MGM Stories and The Blacklist about various stars stories pre/during the HUAC hearings and McCarthy era.
My personal highlight of You Must Remember This so far has been the Charles Manson's Hollywood series. This originally debuted last summer, each episode slowly unravels Manson's ego, influence and crimes leading up to and following the infamous Manson family murders of 1969. Each episode of You Must Remember This is bursting with information, delivered by Longworth in an informative and accessible way. I would highly recommend this podcast to anyone wether you have an interest in Hollywood history or not.

Modern Love - The Podcast
Modern Love is a relatively new podcast. Started in January 2016, Modern Love may ring a bell as it is part of The New York Times series of essays submitted by readers.
I only started reading Modern Love at the end of last year, so when I saw that a podcast had started too I was very excited. What I like most about the podcast is that relatively normal or small, individual stories become so much bigger in the form of the podcast you can really feel the emotions that the writer and the narrator are trying to convey. Each story is read by a new person every week. At the time of writing, the most recent podcast 'A Millenials Guide to Kissing' is read by actress Emmy Rossum. Modern Love is always a little reminder that navigating the field isn't an easy process, and it's not just you dealing with it.

Monocycle
Monocycle is podcast from one of my faves; Man Repeller. Hosted by founder of MR Leandra Medine, Monocylce covers life stuff in general such as work, feelings, mental health and many other subjects. Each podcast is around 12-13 minutes long, which is ace when you want something concise with your morning coffee. Leandra's narration is brilliant, she covers subjects in depth and empathetically. Monocycle feels more like your friend has sat you down and is giving you their best advice.

Stuff You Should Know (SYSK)
Yes. Stuff You Should Know, the old classic. 'SYSK' is well known and is always consistently in the Top 10 of the iTunes podcast chart. SYSK started in 2008 and admittedly I am a relatively new listener to the show and working my way through the archive.
Podcasts are released on a Tuesday and Thursday and cover everything from El Nino, Body Language to Dark Money and Make-Up to name just a few recent episodes. SYSK makes my lunch break a hell of a lot more interesting, narrated by Josh Clark & Chuck Bryant who's natural chemistry make even listening to the most hard-going subject a riveting and fun experience.

BBC World Service - The Documentary
I know a lot of people, including myself who find a comfort in BBC World Service when they are away or travelling. 'The Documentary' podcasts are real insight into a vary of different subject matters. Covering recent news stories and and more niche stories, these podcasts are a real added bonus to your playlist.
